Aquaplume

It's the season of haiku...perhaps it is because so many haiku poems are centered around spring festivities and I am looking forward to that time of the year? Maybe. I don't know?
I have written another original haiku poem for a competition entry, as my way of describing the piece. I had to choose a favourite artwork from some pieces listed and describe why it was my favourite.

Undulating waves
chase buoyant notions within.

Sunrise bursting through.

Weaving life

Weaving and painting by Michele Morcos /  Offering of workshop materials
There is really nothing more inspiring for me than partaking in shared creative activities and making new friends along the way. I had the pleasure of attending a weaving workshop with Sydney based Michele Morcos who's work offers endless inspiration and energy.

I arrived late but the party was in full swing! Some familiar faces and some new people to meet, I quickly got straight into it as I had attended a class before and remembered the starting point. There were up-cycled materials in abundance and people were encouraged to bring materials from home to incorporate in the work. The beauty of the class was learning about the different ways to up-cycle materials into your weaving for texture and dimension- for example discarded fruit packaging and plastic bags! The class is really for beginners and I know there are a few coming up in Adelaide soI would encourage anyone who is able to attend.

Michele is one of those artists that gives every single one of her creations extraordinary consideration and so much of herself shines through the layers of beautiful artworks. Connection, sacredness, curiosity, hope and joy all flow from her pieces that are always buzzing with life and never pause, their vibrancy is so joyful to live with.

The jewellings

So I never realised that jewelling was an actual word- I have always used it to describe my jewellery adventures hence jewellings, and thought that I had made it up. But no, according to thefreedictionary.com it really is a word:

jew·el  (jl)
n.1.a. A precious stone; a gem.
b. A small natural or artificial gem used as a bearing in a watch.
2. A costly ornament of precious metal or gems.
3. One that is treasured or esteemed.
tr.v. jew·eled or jew·elledjew·el·ing or jew·el·lingjew·els1. To adorn with jewels.
2. To fit with jewels.

Also according to autogeek online jewelling refers to the finish polishing of a vehicle.

Great.
Even though I now have a valid vocabulary I can't help but feel a bit unoriginal.
Oh well...at least my work is unique.
